Goodbye to winter

We had a mild winter in the Northwest compared to the rest of the country. Not until the last month or so did the mountains get hit with a decent amount of snow. Although winter felt brief, I can't help get excited by the blossoms on the trees! Here is a tribute to a winter we barely had (none of the photos are from this year due to the late snowfall).

My family won't be caught sitting for long. Giles in particular is always in motion. When I ask what he is doing with his weekend, I start feeling a little lazy with my one snowshoeing trip.

Our pooch, Ruby, turns into an oversized puppy at the sight of snow. Even a small patch at the side of a trail brings out her youthful side.

These two photos are from a snowshoeing trip in British Columbia. The sky turned this incredible peach color as we drew closer to magic hour.

I highly recommend these little booties if you have a dog that has long fine furr. We get strange looks from fellow snowshoers, probably thinking it is ridiculous putting a dog in shoes, but Ruby starts leaving a trail of red patches without them. The snow builds up between her pads, forming hard packed ice and causing her paws to bleed.
